Single Parent Holidays in Meribel France

Two linked resorts in the heart of the Three Valleys, Meribel and Mottaret make the perfect base for skiers wanting to explore this famous area and a good choice for a single parent holiday.

The Meribel villages are as pretty as they sound. Mottaret where the Tarentaise chalethotel is situated, is a modern but attractive timber clad village higher up the valley.

Both villages are ideal for skiers who want variety: over 200 lifts serving 600km of well-kept pistes you can ski all week without fear of repetition, this is intermediate heaven. Beginners have plenty of uncrowded nursery slopes at both village level and higher up and experts can tackle the infamous Courchevel couloirs and Chanrossa bumps. Forest runs down the valley are inviting on low visibility days while sunny conditions suit expeditions to Val Thorens, Europe's highest resort.

Mottaret has a choice of bars and restaurants including Le Rastro which always has a good buzz. Meribel, easily reached by the free resort bus, has an indoor swimming pool, ice-skating rink and Turkish baths. Lively apres-ski at the Rondpoint Bar never disappoints with live music most days from 4:30pm onwards. 

Single parent holidays are well catered for. Every member of the family will be happy here: our Chalethotel has its own children's club, there are well-organised lessons for beginners and improvers and a huge choice of ski runs for every level. Boarders have their own snow-park with a specialist school and two half-pipes among the features.

We offer ski hosting for competent older children and adults who want to explore the resorts’ well-tended pistes while off the slopes, there’s plenty going on, from ice-skating to ice-dodgems.

Ski Hosting is provided
The Chalethotel ski hosts are on hand to help, from meeting at the airport and accompanying you on the transfer to pointing you in the right direction for ski school, the shortest lift queue or the best lunch stop.

A ski hosting service is offered (subject to availability) on four days, to add to competent skiers’ enjoyment of the resort.  There are two ‘ability’ groups: leisurely & intermediate and advanced, each with its own ski host. Join for half or the full day, change groups if need be: it’s up to you.

Meet your ski host after breakfast, explore slopes suitable for your level of expertise and fitness and meet up with the rest of the family – and fellow guests – at an agreed lunch venue. Carry on in the afternoon or drop out to do your own thing.

Hosts are advanced skiers and know the resort intimately, but they are not accredited mountain guides or instructors: beginners will need to arrange lessons with the local ski school.

Chalethotel Tarentaise

With its stunning piste-side location the Chalethotel Tarentaise is ideally located in the heart of the Three Valleys.  Not only can you ski in and ski out at this chalethotel, you also watch skiers glide past as you breakfast and as you take a drink on the lounge right on the piste.

Everything at this chalethotel is designed to make life easy. The spacious bedrooms have plenty of room for an extra child's bed and some are interconnecting.  All the rooms are thoughtfully furnished and have TV's showing English channels. 

The dining room is bright and airy with superb views across the piste, it has plenty of atmosphere and is definitely a place to linger and indulge.  The bar leads out on to a large sunny terrace - a great place for an après ski drink, or why not curl up by the log fire in the lounge.  It's simply a lovely, relaxing chalethotel - and ideal for skiers who want to be in the heart of the three valleys. 

The hotel has it's own Viva beauty salon where, you can have a massage, facial, manicure or relax in the private whirlpool suite after a hard days skiing. 

 There is a mix of room types from twin-bedded to family rooms, but prices are based on twin-bedded rooms for one adult and one child under 16.

What's included in your single parent holiday

Your holiday price is based on direct flights from Gatwick to Geneva (many regional airports are available), with transfers to resort (approx 180 minutes), and accommodation for one adult and one child under 4 in a twin room.

Breakfast and afternoon tea are included every day, with dinner on six evenings, with wine for adults and squash for children.

Ski hosting services on five days are also included in the price, as is the option to make use of the evening ‘drop-in’ crèche.

Please ask for prices for babies and toddlers under three years.

Children's facilities

Dedicated staff at Chalethotel Tarentaise provide optional childcare facilities from four months to 12 years.  Extra cost (see below): pre-booking is strongly recommended.

Creche and toddler clubs are available for the youngest ages (details on request).

The Mini and Kidz Clubs are large, bright and filled to the brim with games and toys: qualified British nannies plan indoor and outdoor activities on six days of the week to ensure a happy holiday for all our younger guests.

Mini Club (3 – 5 years)
Fun, fun, fun is the name of the game in the Mini Club.  Outdoor play includes sledging and snowman building and indoors there’s  face-painting and games.  Supervised lunch and high tea included. 9am-5.30pm x 5 days: cost £180 per week

Kidz Club (6 – 12 years)
Plenty of outdoor action balanced with indoor fun. When children are booked into morning or afternoon ski school, and booked into the Kidz Club then our nannies drop off/collect.  Supervised lunch and high tea included.   9am-6.30pm Mon-Fri, 9am-1pm Sat: cost £150 per week.

In addition, there's a free ‘drop-in' crèche each evening between 7.30-11pm (not Sunday). The facilities for children on your single parent holidays mean that there can be a little time for you to relax too.
